Buffering? How to check your internet connection the proper way

Encountering buffering issues while watching your favorite stream?

If you want to do a speedtest, use speedtest.net

Try to ping google.com (and also your IPTV server) - we will tell you how:

Windows

  1. Press the Windows Button to pull up Start
  2. Begin typing: cmd
  3. Start will pull up the “app” Command Prompt
  4. Click on the icon to open the program (a black box will appear)
  5. Type in: ping -t 8.8.8.8 and press Enter
  6. A continuous “ping” should begin to show the latency (in seconds/miliseconds) from the IP address used - in this case a Google Public DNS

Mac OS X

  1. Open the program Terminal (CMD+Space, search for Terminal)
  2. Type in: ping 8.8.8.8 and press Enter
  3. A continuous “ping” should begin to show the latency (in seconds/miliseconds) from the IP address used - in this case a Google Public DNS

Why are we doing the ping test? The output of this ping test, should contain lower (10-50ms) values. If your values are inconsistent and higher then the recommended values, you should check with your internet provider.

You can compare ping ms values from google.com and the IPTV server, if both are high your connection is not good. If only the IPTV server returns high ms, try a VPN closer to your IPTV provider servers.
